Overview

It’s essential that your fire alarm system is installed and commissioned by a company who is accredited by a third-party body such as BAFE. British Approvals of Fire Equipment (or BAFE) will inspect a registered company every six months’ to ensure they are installing and maintaining fire alarms to a recognised standard. They also check several other requirements such as insurance cover, quality control and the company’s and engineers’ performance to specified codes of practice.

BAFE Accredited

By ensuring your commercial fire alarm system installation is by an accredited company, you’re safeguarding yourself against fire safety legislation breaches.

Choosing a BAFE accredited company also ensures you are covered legally should anything go wrong with your system, as you can demonstrate that you considered competence when having the system installed.

BusinessWatch is a BAFE accredited company. Therefore, you have the peace of mind that not only do we meet or exceed the highest possible business performance standards, but we also security screen all relevant staff for your safety. We take pride in ensuring your fire alarm installation not only meets the required fire safety standards, but also meets the requirements of your individual business. You, your business premises and the safety of your employees is our main priority.

Commissioning

Once your fire alarm is installed, your BusinessWatch engineer will commission the system. You will be issued with an official notice that your system complies with fire safety legislation, such as a BAFE Certificate of Conformity.

Once your fire alarm system is commissioned, your engineer will demonstrate how to use the system and the fire alarm panel and will also show you (or your nominated competent person) how to perform the weekly test.

You’ll also receive a Fire Safety Log Book. This needs to be used to record all fire alarm system weekly tests, as well as any results of tests on other fire safety systems and all fire evacuation drills and training.
